Very sadly, Filton People Community Group in its current form closed down at the end of March 2008 and was no longer able of offer services.

1 NAME

The name of the group shall be FILTON PEOPLE (hereinafter called ‘the Group’)

1 OBJECTS

The objects of the Group shall be:

Without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, race or nationality, or political, religious or other opinions, to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Filton by associating the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations to advance education, social welfare and leisure-time occupations.

1 POWERS

In furtherance of the said objects, but not otherwise, the Group shall have the power to:

(a)     bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations,
government departments, statutory authorities and individuals;
    
(a)    arrange to provide for, either alone or with others, the holding of exhibitions,
meetings, lectures, classes, seminars or training courses, and all forms of
recreational and other leisure-time activities;

(a)    collect and disseminate information on all matters relating to its objects, and to
exchange such information with other bodies having similar objects
whether in the United Kingdom or elsewhere;

(a)     write, print or publish, in whatever form, such papers, books, periodicals,
pamphlets or other documents, including films and recorded material, as
shall further its objects, and to issue or circulate the same whether for
payment or otherwise;

(a)     raise funds and invite or receive donations and contributions, whether by
subscription, grant or otherwise;

(a)     employ and retain on such terms and  conditions of employment as the
Management Committee shall agree any paid staff;

(a)     do all such other lawful things as shall further the objects of the Group.                                                                                                                               

1 MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be open to any group or individual residing or working within Filton.  The subscription rate, if any, shall be determined by the Management Committee.

1 EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Membership of the Group and participation in its activities shall be open to anyone regardless of gender, class, age, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or marital status.

1 ORGANISATION

(a)     The Annual General Meeting shall be held within fifteen months of the preceding   
AGM and will elect Officers and Members to serve as a Management Committee until
the next AGM, the retiring Officers and Members being eligible for re-election.

(b)     Members entitled to vote at the Annual General and Special General Meetings
shall be those who are on the Group’s mailing list and have paid any subscription due.

(b)    The Management Committee will consist of:
Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and at least three other elected Members.

(b)    Management Committee Meetings will take place at least once every three
months, clear and reasonable notice being given in advance to all Committee
Members, and the Committee shall be quorate on the attendance of at least
three Officers and Members.

(b)    Records of  meetings shall be taken as written minutes by the Secretary,
including Management, Annual General and Special General Meetings, and shall  be sent to all members in reasonable advance of the next respective meeting.

1 FINANCE

(a)    All monies received shall be devoted to the objects of the Group and shall be paid
into an account in the name of FILTON PEOPLE at a bank or building society
approved by the Group.

(a)    The Treasurer shall be responsible for keeping proper accounts and for all
 monies received or payable by the Group.

(a)    All cheques drawn against the Group’s account shall be signed by the Treasurer
and one of two other designated Committee Members.

(a)    The accounts shall be audited at least once a year by the Hon. Auditor appointed
by the Management Committee, and an audited statement of accounts submitted
to the AGM.

(a) The financial year of the Group shall end on 31 March each year.

1 AMENDMENTS TO CONSTITUTION

This Constitution may be amended in any respect by a resolution passed by a simple
Majority of the Members present and entitled to vote at a Special General Meeting
of the Group, provided that any proposal to alter the Constitution has been
communicated to the Secretary in writing at least 28 clear days before the meeting at which the proposal is to be moved, and that written notice of the meeting, stating the terms of the proposed resolution, has been sent to all Members of the Group not less than 21 clear days before the date of the Special General Meeting.

1 DISSOLUTION

The Group may at any time be dissolved by a simple majority of Members present and entitled to vote at a Special General Meeting of the Group, provided that written notice of the Meeting, specifying that this is the purpose of the Meeting, has been sent to all Members of the Group not less than 21 clear days before the date of the Special General Meeting.  Any monies or assets remaining after the satisfaction of all proper debts and liabilities shall be given or transferred to such other  charitable organisation/s having similar aims to the Group as the Members of the Group determine.
