Very sadly, Filton People Community Group in its current form closed down at the end of March 2008 and was no longer able to offer services.

Filton People is a community action group, and over the past 10 years we have helped establish some great facilities for local people. For instance:

•  Four Towns Community Transport - now a thriving independent group used extensively by local people and groups.
• The BMX park and teen shelter in Elm Park, and a number of holiday play schemes.
• Filton Contact the Elderly Group, which for the last 9 years has taken groups of elderly housebound people living alone out for a wonderful monthly tea.
• Filton Environmental Action Group which carried out extensive planting in Filton’s parks, and other environmental improvements.
• Filton Community History Group which has now published 5 volumes of local oral history memories, created teaching packs for local schools, saved historic local buildings, and much more.
• Local information guides such as our popular Over 60s Information Sheet, guides for local groups on professional and other sources of help, Groups Grants Guide, annual Summer Play Schemes Guide, and our new Activities Booklet for children, young people and families.

Filton People is run by local volunteers who are interested in the Filton area, and employs two part-time workers funded by South Gloucestershire Council, Filton Town Council and other sources.
